Fifty years ago Mrs. Timperley had just arrived from England and begun working for the Red Cross in Edmonton, and in civil defence. In the 1960s she directed her energies into humanitarian and multicultural activities in Edmonton, including the folk-arts, and annual heritage festival, a citizenship council, a training centre for the mentally challenged, a home for Native children and a reception committee for Vietnamese refugees.
