The first elected Mayor of the city of Chibougamau and a former administrator in the mining industry, he is largely responsible for the region's economic development. In addition, as the first Executive Vice-President of the Chapais-Chibougamau branch-of the Red Cross, co-founder of the regional hospital and a founding member of many clubs and committees, he has made a notable contributions to health and social services in his community.
