For more than 40 years, Rudolph Kriegler has been enhancing Canada's competitiveness in the high-technology sector. He was internationally recognized for his early research in silicon technology in the 1970s. He later conceived and implemented groundbreaking research and development in high-speed optical communications at Nortel, where he became fellow emeritus. Over the years he mobilized multi-partner stakeholders among Canada's academic ranks, and was instrumental in the emergence of Photonics Research Ontario and in the creation of the Solid State Optoelectronics Consortium of Canada.
