He is a model of integrity and modesty whose record of service to his country has been exemplary. For more than 50 years, he has devoted his life to the Canadian legal profession both as a lawyer and a judge. He rose through the ranks of the judiciary to serve on the Ontario Court of Appeal and later on the Supreme Court of Canada. With a deep concern and compassion for youth, minorities and the disenfranchised, he always ensured that the goals and principles of justice were followed. Throughout his career, he penned a great number of reasons for judgement which constitute landmarks in the evolution of Canadian law and jurisprudence in our country.
