Brigadier-General Macaulay served as the chief of staff of the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command Iraq from April 2015 to March 2016. With exceptional leadership, he united a multinational command and staff of over 4 000 soldiers from 18 countries, and oversaw more than 50 strikes aimed at defeating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. As the senior Canadian Armed Forces representative in Iraq, Brigadier-General Macaulay solidified Canada’s reputation among the allied countries of the coalition.
