George Mannion and the late William Allan, members of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada, were the driving force behind the Korean Veterans National Wall of Remembrance project to honour the memory of their Canadian comrades who died during the Korean conflict. Thanks to their determination and leadership, $300,000 was raised for the construction of the memorial at the Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton, Ontario. The monument, which contains the names of the 516 volunteer Canadian soldiers who died in Korea and of the Canadian military units which served in the Korean War, was officially unveiled on July 27, 1997.
