Sergeant Jeffery Paul Alderdice, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On February 12, 2011, while serving a tour of duty as a mentor to Afghan police officers, Toronto Police Sergeant Jeff Alderdice risked his life to help a U.S. Army captain, in Afghanistan. During a patrol in Kandahar, Sergeant Alderdice and his American colleague were attacked by insurgents. His colleague was taking on fire and running low on ammunition. Covering him, Sergeant Alderdice responded to incoming rounds from attackers located inside and on the roof of a nearby hotel. Once the shooting stopped, Sergeant Alderdice assisted with the retrieval of wounded victims.
