    On August 11, 2011, Dennis Kerridge and David Mayo were instrumental in the rescue of a man who was in danger of drowning in Georgian Bay, in Penetanguishene, Ontario. Both rescuers ran into the water and struggled through huge waves and the strong current. Mr. Mayo managed to reach the victim and bring him safely to the shore. Sadly, Mr. Kerridge, who had suffered a heart attack during the rescue, collapsed on the beach and could not be revived.
