On April 24, 2002, 17-year-old Kerianne Wilson rescued an elderly man who had fallen onto the tracks of the metro, seconds before the train pulled into the Saint-Laurent station in Montréal, Quebec. Kerianne was waiting for the train when she saw a man stagger toward the edge of the platform and tumble onto the tracks. She raced to the scene, signaling to bystanders that she needed help. Without regard for her own safety, she jumped onto the rails where the victim lay motionless. Determined to save the man, she lifted him by the arms and dragged him over to the platform. Other passengers helped complete the rescue, seconds before the train roared into the station.
