On September 1, 1999, Dany Leblanc rescued a woman trapped in a burning vehicle in Saint-Charles-de-Drummond, Quebec. Arriving at the scene of the accident, Mr. Leblanc noticed the seriously injured driver lying unconscious in her burning car. Determined to save her despite the danger, Mr. Leblanc smashed the windshield with an iron bar. While others were trying in vain to extinguish the flames, Mr. Leblanc, though dazed by toxic fumes, tore out the dashboard, which was melting in the intense heat. He then leaned into the car, grasped the woman by her wrists, pulled her out of the inferno and brought her to safety. Despite the victim's serious injuries, her life was saved thanks to Mr. Leblanc's perseverance.
