Star of Courage
Edward Brumm and Kenneth Wegner saved three fishermen from drowning in Cedar Lake near Brent, Ontario, on 8 October 1978. The fishermen were returning to shore in rough weather when their boat capsized fifty metres from shore. Though much time elapsed before word of their predicament reached Mr. Wegner and Mr. Brumm, the latter took a motor-boat out at grave risk. They found two of the fishermen clinging to their boats, the third having already drifted away. On their way to shore Mr. Brumm had to bail water in order to keep the boat afloat. On shore the rescuers learned of the third man. With complete disregard for their own safety, they launched out into the lake once more and after a long search found him and brought him to shore.
