On the rainy evening of 16 July 1980, while Thomas Warren was travelling on the highway in the region of Nestor Falls, he witnessed a head-on collision in which two vehicles caught fire. On arrival at the scene Mr. Warren realized that a couple were trapped inside their burning car. He immediately ran to the driver's side. pulled the man out and carried him to a place of safety. In spite of the danger of explosion he quickly returned to the car, where the situation had further deteriorated. He succeeded in removing the woman who was slumped under the dashboard, unable to move because of an injury to her back. There is no doubt that Mr. Warren's prompt and unselfish action in risking his life prevented the deaths of two people.
