On February 2, 1990, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Messrs. Nicol, Porter and Reid disarmed a bank robber. Noticing him at the next wicket, Mr. Reid grabbed the man's wrist and tried to wrench the firearm from his grasp. Unfortunately, the thief managed to turn the gun on Mr. Reid and shot him. Mr. Nicol grabbed the revolver and the robber's hand, forcing it down, while Mr. Porter charged at the bandit. Together, they managed to wrestle the bank robber to the floor and, with the aid of other customers, disarmed him and held him until the police arrived.
