Medal of Bravery
After being involved in a three-vehicle accident near Flamborough, Ontario, on July 15, 1986, a pick-up truck, which had been struck both from behind and from the passenger side, burst into flames. Lewis Marston was first on the scene and tried to open the driver's side door to free the semi-conscious driver, who was tangled in the steering wheel. As flames spread up the passenger side of the truck, Mr. Marston, Ralph Chiappetta and Tony Albino used a pry bar and a wooden post in another unsuccessful attempt on the door while others on the scene tried to fight the fire with extinguishers. The fire spread quickly into the cab of the truck and began to singe the driver's hair. At this point the three men, giving up their attempts on the door, reached into the cab and, while Mr. Marston freed the driver's leg, Mr. Chiappetta and Mr. Albino pulled him out through the window just as the seat of the truck caught fire. Within seconds the entire vehicle was in flames.
