Medal of Bravery
On January 11, 1992, Messrs. Andrews and Trader attempted to rescue two snowmobilers who had fallen through the ice on the Ottawa River. Mr. Andrews attempted to use a stick to pull out the victims while Mr. Trader went to a nearby cottage to find a better instrument for the rescue. Unfortunately, the ice did not hold and Mr. Andrews joined the other two victims in the icy water. When Mr. Trader returned with an extension cord, one of the victims was nowhere to be seen and Mr. Andrews was weakening, unable to grasp the cord Mr. Trader threw to him. However, Mr. Trader succeeded in pulling out the third victim, who was brought to the cottage.
