On July 26, 1991, Mr. Adams rescued a woman involved in a boating accident on Indian Lake, Ontario. He observed a motor boat circling, unattended, with a woman in the water clinging to its side. He immediately had another boater bring him as close as possible to the spinning vessel and attempted to jump aboard. He landed in the water but managed to grasp the side of the boat opposite the victim. Now in danger of being dragged under the propeller, Mr. Adams was eventually able to pull himself into the boat and cut the engine. The victim was then helped to safety.
