Arms of Arthur Brian Shook

Blazon

Per pale Azure and Or, a pile reversed per pale dovetailed counterchanged;

Symbolism

The main colours of the arms are the choice of Mr. Shook, and the colours of his home province, Alberta. The dovetailed line refers to his grandfather's trade as a carpenter, and the angled line makes a reference to the roof of a house, and therefore to Mr. Shook's profession as an architectural technologist. The steep form of the angle can also refer to the distinctive buildings in the market square of Hackenburg, Germany, the home of Mr. Shook's ancestors.

Crest

Blazon

A vol Or enclosing a pair of dividers Azure;

Symbolism

The outstretched eagle wings are a feature of German heraldry, and therefore make reference to Mr. Shook's heritage. They also indicate the fact that Mr. Shook's father and his brothers have been involved in flying, and that Mr. Shook himself has a private flying licence. The dividers are a reference to Mr. Shook's profession.

Motto

Blazon

OPUS ARTIFICEM PROBAT;

Symbolism

This Latin phrase means "The work proves the craftsman".
