Arms of Sarah Jane DumbrilleBlazonPer fess Argent and Azure a stag trippant counterchanged winged Bleu-celeste between three eighth notes also counterchanged; SymbolismThe blue and white colours are the colours of both the Ontario Hospital Association and the Brockville General Hospital, institutions with which Mrs. Dumbrille has been involved for many years as a governor and supporter. The stag is taken from the arms for Connell and honours her father’s Irish heritage. The stag’s wings are an allusion to Mrs. Dumbrille’s love of flying. The eighth-notes refer to her passion for music and also represent her three children. |
CrestBlazonIssuant from a coronet Gules the rim set with three jewels Argent and above with maple leaves Gules alternating with mullets Argent a cat sejant also Argent embellished Sable its dexter forepaw raised and holding a trefoil Vert; SymbolismThe stars in the coronet are a reference to the United States of America, Mrs. Dumbrille’s birthplace, and the maple leaves allude to her Canadian citizenship. The jewels honour her three children. The red, combined with the blue and white of the design, also refer to the Union Jack, the Royal Union Flag, which symbolizes Mrs. Dumbrille’s staunch support of the Monarchy. The tabby cat honours Mrs. Dumbrille’s love of cats, and in particular, her cat Olivia. The cat holds a shamrock as a tribute to Mrs. Dumbrille’s Irish heritage. |
