The bell has long been used as a symbol of the College, and the wapiti’s head is a reference to the name of the city, a red deer being a wapiti or elk. |
CrestBlazonA demi lion Or gorged with a coronet of wheat spikes Vert and holding in its dexter paw a torch Azure enflamed Or; SymbolismThe lion is the mascot of the College’s sport’s team. The torch is a symbol of learning, and it is taken from the emblem of the RDC Foundation. The coronet, or open crown, makes an allusion to the names of the sport’s teams (Kings and Queens) of the College, and the wheat is indicative of central Alberta. |
