The roses refer to Captain Sorbie’s childhood in Lancashire, England, the arms of which bear three red roses. The lion represents his English background and the courage appropriate to a military officer. The axe was chosen by Captain Sorbie as a weapon illustrating preparedness for war. The coronet symbolizes his loyalty to king and country. |
