SupportersBlazonDexter an Italian wolf, sinister an eastern wolf, both standing on a rocky mount proper set with a yin-yang symbol Argent and Sable and strewn with maple leaves Gules, lilies and trillium flowers proper; SymbolismThe wolves symbolize cooperation, leadership and strong family ties. The Apennine wolf refers to Mr. Rota’s Italian heritage. The eastern or Algonquin wolf, native to the Great Lakes region and southeastern Canada, represents the Canadian branch of his family. The yin-yang symbol honours Mr. Rota’s daughter, Samantha, who was born in China. The rocky terrain depicts the Canadian Shield, on which North Bay, Ontario, is located and where Mr. Rota was born. The maple leaves represent Canada, a country of great opportunities, while the lilies honour Mr. Rota’s wife, Chantal Piché, whose family is Franco-Ontarian and proud of its French ancestry. Together with the trillium flowers, these symbols serve as a foundation for the Rota family’s pride in their Canadian, Italian, Franco-Ontarian and Chinese origins. |
