The gold rays symbolize the sun. The vertical gold bands represent straight furrows of a field of wheat. |
CrestBlazonA rose proper winged Or issuant from a tower proper all within a circlet of maple seeds and goby fish Or; SymbolismThe rose represents England, the country of origin of the Goby family. The wings evoke the badge of the Royal Flying Corps in which Mr. Goby’s paternal grandfather, Arthur Goby, served during the First World War. The tower is a canting reference to the maiden name of Mr. Goby’s paternal grandmother, Eva Mary Castle. The maple seeds represent Canada. The fish are a canting reference to Mr. Goby’s surname, goby being a type of fish. |
