Arms of Janice Clare FilmonBlazonArgent a maple tree eradicated Purpure, its leaves Bleu Céleste, Azure, Gules and Vert, its roots voided of a heart; SymbolismEchoing the Regal Celebration Maple, a tree variety launched by Her Honour in Manitoba in 2016, the maple tree is a symbol of hope, life, renewal, celebration, family and love, themes dear to Her Honour. The multicoloured leaves represent the richness of choices and actions that everyone can make to contribute to the well-being of their communities. Purple is a colour associated with the vice-regal office. The heart, a symbol of love, represents the importance of volunteering and service to others. |
CrestBlazonAn American robin proper, holding in its beak an annulus Sable, wearing a coronet of prairie crocuses Purpure and perched on a nest bearing four eggs proper; SymbolismThe robin is a symbol of spring, and thus joy and renewal. Its nest filled with four eggs represents the central role of family and Her Honour’s children. The black ring is a reference to the iron ring worn by engineers, and represents the profession of Her Honour’s husband, Gary Filmon. The prairie crocuses in the coronet worn by the robin, together with similar coronets worn by the dove supporters, represent Their Honours’ grandchildren. The floral emblem of Manitoba, the prairie crocuses also represent Their Honours’ province and their lifetime community involvement in Manitoba. |

SupportersBlazonTwo doves Argent beaked and legged Sable, their wings embellished Bleu Céleste, Azure, Vert and Gules, their exterior wings elevated, each wearing a coronet of prairie crocuses Purpure and standing on a field of wheat proper above a bar wavy Bleu Céleste; SymbolismThe doves are a symbol of peace and hope. Their open wings and their multicoloured feathers emphasize the energy and life that Her Honour brings to the various projects she undertakes. The coronets of prairie crocuses worn by the doves echo the like coronet worn by the robin in the Crest. The base alludes to the natural setting of Manitoba. |
