The blue colour of the chief and the gold star, traditional symbols of the Blessed Virgin Mary, indicate that Bishop Tremblay belongs to the congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and his relationship with the Marian sanctuary of Our Lady of the Cape Shrine, in Trois-Rivières, where he was ordained as a bishop. The red alludes to the fire mentioned in his motto. The classical temple symbolizes the Church as a temple of wisdom. Its simple form also evokes the university, a place of study and of searching for the truth, particularly in theology. The two symbols, the temple and the olive tree, evoke the Church as a structure and as a living organism.
