Symbolism
The twelve-pointed star, a symbolic representation of the movement of celestial bodies and the sequence of daily cycles over two dozen hours in a day, represents Mr. Dugas’ interest in history as well as his desire to understand the world. The rounded cut-outs in the orle are similar to the horseshoe arches used abundantly in Islamic architecture, and recall Mr. Dugas’ distant Middle-Eastern heritage, which he discovered thanks to genetic genealogy. The black and gold colours represent duality, the visible and the invisible, opposites.
