Arms of Philippe DugasBlazonSable a mullet of twelve points within an orle engrailed on the interior Or; SymbolismThe twelve-pointed star, a symbolic representation of the movement of celestial bodies and the sequence of daily cycles over two dozen hours in a day, represents Mr. Dugas’ interest in history as well as his desire to understand the world. The rounded cut-outs in the orle are similar to the horseshoe arches used abundantly in Islamic architecture, and recall Mr. Dugas’ distant Middle-Eastern heritage, which he discovered thanks to genetic genealogy. The black and gold colours represent duality, the visible and the invisible, opposites. |
CrestBlazonA demi-Canada goose displayed proper semé of mullets of twelve points Or and issuant from a circlet of Canada lilies proper; SymbolismThe Canada goose is an emblematic migratory bird of Canada, and represents movement and change. The Canada lily symbolizes Mr. Dugas’ attachment both to Canada and to Quebec. As a symbol of generation, the lily also indicates his love of genealogy and his family history. |
