Symbolism

The lines represent the sea and the Rocky Mountains. The fleur-de-lis, which represents the Francophonie, is turned toward the sun, a symbol of life and hope and a key element of the British Columbia coat of arms. The Pacific dogwood, the provincial flower of British Columbia, springs from the fleur-de-lis, symbolizing the double identity of Franco-Columbians as well as their contribution to the entire community. This symbolism is based on a variety of publicly-available sources.
