The griffin, a creature which is part eagle and part lion, symbolizes a person who is eagle-eyed and valorous in protecting Canadians and the security of Canada. The targe, a round shield used by Scottish warriors, symbolizes his Scottish heritage. The blue of the targe is a colour associated with policing services. The sword evokes Mr. Allbon’s readiness to serve, with force if necessary. |

The lilies symbolize his maternal grandfather’s birthplace of Dundee, Scotland, in whose arms lilies appear. |
