Arms of Udo HanebaumBlazonPean a prairie falcon displayed wings inverted, belled and jessed, in base three wild roses proper; SymbolismThe colour and motif of the background are a heraldic fur and for Mr. Hanebaum, symbolize furred quarry. The prairie falcon, which hits its prey harder than other falcons, is a metaphor for rising to a challenge and dealing with it decisively. The prairie roses refer to his wife as well as their daughters, who are the first Canadian-born members of his family. With the falcon, they symbolize a deep connection to the Prairies. |
CrestBlazonA falcon-bear rampant per fess proper and Pean wings elevated and addorsed, swinging by its beak a falconry lure Or; SymbolismThe falcon-bear, named KaSie – a contraction of the first syllable of Mr. Hanebaum twin daughters Katja and Simone – is a fabulous creature invented for bedtime stories. The lure is used in falconry to train falcons. Its use by the KaSie beast serves to call absent family members back to the Canadian Prairies. |
