Chequy Azure and Or a unicorn rampant holding between its hooves a balance Gules;

Symbolism

The chequy division – an ordered, Cartesian pattern, where the colours alternate regularly – represents Mr. Gignac’s role as a public relations coordinator for St. John Ambulance. The unicorn, which appears on the badge of the Order of St. John, symbolizes Mr. Gignac’s worked with St. John Ambulance. The scales represent his astrological sign, Libra.

Issuant from a coronet of maple leaves and fleurs-de-lis Or a demi-lion Gules holding between its paws a galley Azure;

Symbolism

The lion, which appears on the badge of the Order of St. John, represents his dedication to St. John Ambulance and refers to Mr. Gignac’s father’s astrological sign, Leo. The galley symbolizes the long voyage of the Crusaders to the Holy Land and, by extension, the origin of the orders of chivalry. The coronet of fleurs-de-lis and maple leaves represents his French roots and Canadian nationality, as well as demonstrating his allegiance to the Canadian Crown.
