The eagle is a symbol of protecting power. The sword evokes Mr. Casavant’s time serving Canada in the military, and the broken rod symbolizes the fight against terrorism during that service. As well, the sword and rod allude to his mother’s surname of Taillefer, meaning “cutting iron”. |
