Arms of Marc Antoine BourgeoisBlazonErmine a rod of Aesculapius surmounting a balance Gules, on a chief wavy Azure a mullet Or within a cord Argent; SymbolismThe balance and ermine fur, traditionally associated with the judiciary and justice, allude to Mr. Bourgeois’ profession as a lawyer. The rod of Aesculapius represents his wife, a physician. The wavy chief is taken from the armorial bearings of the Association des Bourgeois d’Acadie. The star is the primary symbol of Acadia. The Franciscan rope refers to the Saint-François, the ship on which Jacques Bourgeois sailed to settle in Port-Royal in 1641. |

The book represents the Université de Moncton, Mr. Bourgeois’ alma mater, as well as history, geography and reading.
