The shield uses the blue, white, red and yellow of the Acadian flag. A symbol of medicine, the rod of Aesculapius represents Dr. Robichaud’s profession. The red flanks are reminiscent of kidneys, a reference to Dr. Robichaud’s medical specialty as a nephrologist. The mullein is a medicinal plant indexed by Louis Hébert, the first apothecary in Acadia, in his herbarium and known for its benefits to the respiratory system.
