The bars also suggest the spines of a stack of books, a reference to Mr. Cameron’s prolific output as a historical novelist. The stars refer to the insignia of a commanding officer in the United States Navy, a position Mr. Cameron once held. Pierced, it is a spur-rowel, a symbol of chivalry, for which Mr. Cameron has had an interest all his life. |
