Arms of Richard LoganBlazonErmine a lion passant guardant per pale Or and Azure, on a chief Gules a falcon volant affronté head to the sinister and grasping in its talons the mace of the Senate of Canada Or; SymbolismThe upper part of the shield celebrates Mr. Logan’s long and extensive involvement with air cadets, with the falcon modelled on the badge of the Air Cadet League of Canada. The ermine field is found in arms associated with the English Barnaby family and thus honours the family of Mr. Logan’s wife. The blue half of the lion alludes to the arms of the Duke of Edinburgh, while the gold half is taken from the traditional arms of Hickey, referring to Mr. Logan’s maternal heritage. The reference to the Duke of Edinburgh symbolizes Mr. Logan’s involvement over a long period of time in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme. The mace recognizes Mr. Logan’s service as Mace Bearer of the Senate of Canada. |
