Arms of Richard Levesque

Blazon

Gules three bars wavy Argent;

Symbolism

The shield is based on the colours of the arms of the Seine-Maritime in Normandy and the flag of the Isle of Jersey, ancestral lands of the Levesque family. The red and white also represent the colours of Canada. Because the destiny of the Levesque family is tied to the sea, the three wavy stripes represent the English Channel, the Atlantic Ocean, and the St. Lawrence River.

Crest

Blazon

Issuant from a circlet of fleurs-de-lis Argent, two lions rampant guardant addorsed Or, that to the dexter holding a sword, that to the sinister holding an orb Argent;

Symbolism

The two lions and crown of white fleurs-de-lis represent the Norman heritage and the independence of the people of Quebec. Specifically, the leopard holding a sword is a metaphor for eternal vigilance, while the leopard holding a globe adorned with a cross represents eternal faith. The crest therefore repeats the themes of the motto and denotes an unwavering, clear trust in the future that is firmly anchored in the values of the past.
