Arms of Derek Austin TiddBlazonAzure on a pile reversed throughout cotised wavy between two handbells grips in base Argent, a brigantine affronty Azure; SymbolismThe handbells mark Mr. Tidd’s position as Town Crier of the City of Niagara Falls. The central shape refers to a spotlight, indicative of Mr. Tidd’s career as a producer of trade shows and exhibitions, and his earlier work in the theatre. The brigantine refers to Mr. Tidd’s love of sailing and his service in the Royal Navy in the Second World War. The use of a tall ship pays tribute to the fact that Mr. Tidd established the Tall Ship Trust, and the wavy stripes further emphasizes his involvement in naval organizations. |
