Argent a bend wavy Sable between three mortarboards Azure;

Symbolism

The mortarboards allude to Mr. Casselman’s profession as a teacher, and the three of them represent his children. The wavy central stripe recalls the immigration of Mr. Casselman’s ancestors to Canada by sea.

Issuant from a Loyalist military coronet Or a demi-eagle displayed Sable gorged with a collar pendant therefrom a lamp Or enflamed Gules and holding in its beak crocuses and trillium flowers proper;

Symbolism

The black eagle indicates Mr. Casselman’s German heritage. The trillium and prairie crocus refer to his province of birth, Ontario, and to his province of residence, Manitoba. The lamp of learning reinforces the educational symbolism of the arms and motto. The Loyalist military coronet is an indication of Mr. Casselman’s United Empire Loyalist heritage.
