The white triangular shapes represent floodlights and, by extension, theatre and film entertainment. The design thus alludes to Mr. Trister’s professional association with the film industry. It also indicates his acting involvement with community theatre. The three blue rectangular shapes represent Canadian passports, an indication of Mr. Trister’s field of specialization in immigration law. |

The trillium is a symbol of Ontario, Mr. Trister’s province of residence. The spear is taken from the arms of the city of Trieste in Italy, the home of Mr. Trister’s ancestors, and a possible source of the surname. The distinctive spearhead also alludes to the province of Quebec. |
