Arms of Craig James HalbländerBlazonSable a doubled-headed eagle displayed Or charged with two millrinds conjoined in cross Gules; And upon a helmet mantled Sable doubled Or within a wreath of these colours; SymbolismThe black and gold colours refer to Mr. Halbländer’s ancestral origins in Württemberg; they are also associated with imperial Austria and therefore refer to his roots there. The double-headed eagle is a symbol associated with central Europe, and here it has been differenced in several ways, including a reversal of the colours, to distinguish it from existing arms. The heads pointing in two directions are significant for Mr. Halbländer in that they can refer to his life and career in two parts of the globe, Canada and the United Kingdom. The millrinds, which resembles the letter “H,” are taken from the arms of Lincoln’s Inn in London, and therefore mark his association with that Inn of Court and with the legal profession in general. They also allude to the mill on the arms of the former Town of Ancaster and thus refer to Mr. Halbländer’s hometown in Ontario. |
