Letters of Credence Ceremony

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, welcomed six new heads of mission to Canada during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

During the ceremony, the following new heads of mission presented their credentials to the Governor General:

His Excellency Aleksandar Bogdanić

Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Her Excellency Sabah Nizar Rashid Al Rafie

Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Her Excellency Ekaterini Dimakis

Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic

His Excellency Noureddine Sidi Abed

Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

His Excellency Lassaad Boutara

Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia

His Excellency Abdulrahman Hamid Mohamed Al-Hussaini

Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq

Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador of or high commissioner for another country.
