Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, participated in an event honouring Canadian astronaut Roberta Bondar on the 30th anniversary of Bondar's historic space flight. Bondar, Canada’s first woman astronaut, participated in an eight-day mission aboard Space Shuttle Discovery in January, 1992.
During the event held by the Roberta Bondar Foundation, Bondar spoke of her travels to space and how they have impacted her work on Earth. Through the Foundation, Bondar aims to connect people with nature, and inspire them to respect and conserve their environment.
