How wonderful to be here in Amman among so many friends of Canada!

Thank you for what you do for Canada, and for our friendship with Jordan.

I’m very pleased to lead our delegation of outstanding Canadians to Jordan for this State visit.

Since our arrival on Saturday, we’ve had the opportunity to see some remarkable sights and to meet with Jordanians and Canadians who are living and working here.

We’ve been welcomed warmly, and we’ve had a chance to learn about some of the important projects our two countries are undertaking together.

This country is a key partner for Canada in the region.

We are working together on some significant initiatives related to security, trade, refugee settlement and development.

Our success here is so important, both for people in this country and region and for all Canadians.

The extent to which we succeed here can serve as a beacon for Canada’s relationships throughout the region.

It can be a beacon of hope for partnership and shared prosperity between peoples.

Consider the fact that Jordan is the first Arab country with which Canada has signed a free trade agreement. Think how that can inspire us and others to strengthen our relationships, to work more closely together.

As friends of Canada here in Jordan, you’re leading by example. You’re walking the walk

All of you are at the heart of the relationship between our nations, and I’m so grateful.

On behalf of all Canadians, thank you for your efforts.

It is wonderful to see you here, and I wish you the very best in future.
