Message from the Governor General of Canada
on the Occasion of Black History Month
OTTAWA—I am pleased to highlight Black History Month in Canada. A true driving force in our communities, black Canadians are an invaluable part of our country. It is incumbent upon us all to recognize their tremendous contribution to building a smarter, more caring nation.
It is so important that we preserve our collective memory and share the history of black Canadians. I therefore encourage all Canadians to continue learning about our past as we move forward in a spirit of diversity and inclusion.
Let us make the most of this 20th anniversary of Black History Month in Canada to come together to celebrate the culture and heritage of Canadians whose roots lie in Africa or the Caribbean.
