Message from the Governor General of Canada
on the Occasion of Citizenship Week
OTTAWA—Our society sets itself apart by its commitment to democracy, human rights and equality of opportunity.
Regardless of our origin or ethnicity, we are all able to contribute in our own way to building the country of which we dream. I believe this is one of our greatest strengths and a determining factor in making our citizenship one of the most highly valued in the world.
Citizenship Week is an opportunity to celebrate all that it means to be Canadian. Let us continue to connect with one another so that we might build a stronger, more caring nation.
