Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston,
Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada,
on the Death of Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Bobbitt

OTTAWA—My wife, Sharon, and I were saddened to hear of the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Bobbitt, in a training accident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright.

The men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces have earned the admiration of all Canadians for the extraordinary work they do at home and abroad. It is tragic to lose such a respected soldier as Lieutenant-Colonel Bobbitt.

We wish to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Lieutenant-Colonel Bobbitt, as well as our best wishes for a quick recovery to those who were injured in this accident. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

David Johnston
