Message from the Governor General of Canada on the Occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Québec Winter Carnival
OTTAWA—I am delighted to extend warm greetings on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Québec Winter Carnival, which opens today and runs through February 16, 2014. I would also like to express my admiration for an organization that works so hard to bring such enjoyment to Carnival-goers from across Canada and around the world.
Year after year, it is wonderful to see how this homegrown Quebec institution attracts enthusiastic crowds who brave the cold, inspired by a festive spirit unique to Canada. Over time, the Québec Winter Carnival has become a must-see attraction, boosting Québec’s well-earned reputation for hospitality and showcasing its beautifully decorated cityscape.
I congratulate the organizers on a job well done, in presenting shows and activities for all tastes and once again making the Québec Winter Carnival a world-class tourist destination.
Happy Carnival!
