Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, following the death of the Honourable E. Peter Lougheed
OTTAWA— My wife, Sharon, and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the Honourable E. Peter Lougheed.
In a nation that so values service to others, Mr. Lougheed served his province and his country with extraordinary dedication for many years. He never stopped believing in a better, stronger Canada. He was passionately committed to the public good and continued to work for and on behalf of Albertans and Canadians long after he left office.
His was a full life, with a record of achievements that will be long remembered. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather—and a dear friend—and he will be missed. On behalf of all Canadians, we wish to offer our sincerest condolences to Mr. Lougheed’s family during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
David Johnston
