Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, About the Nomination of Canada’s Representative to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust

OTTAWA—My wife, Sharon, and I would like to extend our congratulations to the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien on being named Canada’s representative to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

As a former prime minister and member of The Queen’s Order of Merit, Mr. Chrétien is a fitting choice to represent Canada as an advisor to this wonderful new charity, established in honour of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s Accession to the Throne. The warm relationship he developed with Her Majesty during his long and distinguished career, paired with his desire for a better country, will serve him well in supporting the work of the Diamond Jubilee Trust.

I wish Mr. Chrétien the very best in this endeavour, and I look forward to working with him in support of so extraordinary an enterprise.

David Johnston
