On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and Deputy of the Governor General, participated in several events on November 18 and 19, 2025, as part of the State visit of Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.

In the morning, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and Deputy of the Governor General, joined by his spouse, the Honourable Catherine Mandeville, and His Excellency Whit Fraser, greeted Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden upon their arrival. His Majesty inspected a guard of honour, and the Chief Justice of Canada and His Majesty delivered welcoming remarks.

During a visit to the Canadian Museum of History, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and Deputy Governor General, along with the Honourable Catherine Mandeville, Justice of the Superior Court of Québec, and His Excellency Whit Fraser, accompanied Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia as they explored the stories and experiences that have shaped Canada.
That evening, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and Deputy of the Governor General, hosted a State dinner for Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, as well as Canadian and Swedish dignitaries. The Chief Justice of Canada and His Majesty delivered remarks.

In the evening, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada and Deputy of the Governor General, accompanied by the Honourable Catherine Mandeville and His Excellency Whit Fraser, attended a reception hosted by Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden at the Fairmont Château Laurier. His Majesty and the Chief Justice of Canada delivered remarks.
