It is an honour to present you these Meritorious Service Decorations and Decoration for Bravery.

Congratulations to all recipients of the Meritorious Service Decorations and the Decoration for Bravery.

Members of the Canadian Armed Forces have always strived for excellence.

In the weeks ahead, Canadians will wear the poppy to honour generations of courageous individuals who have gone above and beyond to defend our way of life.

That legacy lives on in places like the Citadelle.

Acts of bravery and leadership happened here, helping to shape our nation: from repelling attacks during the American Revolution to hosting strategic allied meetings during the Second World War.

But what does military excellence mean today?

When alliances are shifting, and global insecurity and conflict are intensifying?

When we can no longer take the international order for granted?

It means adapting swiftly and continuing to serve with honour, even when the path forward is unclear.

It means choosing co-operation over division, and fostering trust between nations.

It means putting your own safety on the line when the pressure is highest—out of a deep commitment to uphold the values that define us as Canadians.

Peace. Democracy.

Equality and diversity.

Freedom—including free speech.

These values are increasingly challenged.

And by defending them, you demonstrate a clear understanding that Canada can — and must — be a force for good in the world.

Honourees, today it is a true privilege to celebrate your remarkable accomplishments in the presence of your loved ones.

We also take a moment to remember and honour the late Captain Jennifer Rose Casey, a colleague whose life was tragically cut short.

Thank you for serving Canada with honour, courage, and resilience.

You — and your families — have made tremendous sacrifices to do this work.

So, before we hear each story read aloud, I want to encourage you to take care of yourselves and to support one another.

Because the strength of our Forces is not only found in individual acts of excellence and bravery. It’s found in the bonds you build and the community you create.

Congratulations!
